For people with limb loss:

We aim to provide a modern, cost effective artificial limb rehabilitation service tailored to your needs which will help you to achieve the best possible Quality of Life for yourself.  This involves provision of an artificial limb, training to use it, monitoring progress until you achieve maximum possible integration into your family and society and  ensuring lifelong care for your artificial limb

Pictured opposite are the steps described below

  • Welcome and registration
  • Clinical Assessment and setting objectives within time frames
  •  Obtaining a Plaster of Paris cast of your residual leg and taking measurements for the artificial limb
  • Making a customised Plaster of Paris model of your residual leg and using this, making a socket to fit your residual leg.
  • Fabricate your artificial limb using the socket and our modular  components
  • Fitting the artificial leg to you and making adjustments as needed whilst standing and walking to get the optimum comfort and function.
  • Initial training to walk
  • Finish the cosmetic cover, allow you to take the leg home and get used to using it
  • Life long follow-up
If you need a Brace, Splint or Supportive device:

The initial procedures are more or less similar as far as you are concerned.  Following initial assessment which may involve input from your hospital consultant and his /her team, a decision will be made by our team about the device you will need.  This will be explained in detail to you and your main carer

The remaining steps may  be different.  We may decide to provide you a customised device, in which case, the steps shown above will be followed.  Sometimes, all you require will be an off shelf device.  We have many such devices that are used often  and you may be supplied with one, following which, the improvement will be recorded including a video of your function.  You may then be discharged with or without follow up apointmets.

If you require a more customised device, that will be fabricated using your Plaster of Paris model.  Subsequent steps will be similar to those involved in artificial limb provision.

Some of these steps and the devices can be seen in the slider on your left.   A more comprehensive list is given in the Products section

If your need is for a comfortable seating system fitted into a mobility device

Your hospital consultant and team often refer you /your child with a specific request.  Our team led by the Physiotherapist will do a detailed assessment including your functional level and home environment to decide the best possible options

We have many options at our disposal, some of which you can see in the slider on your right hand side.  These are donations we receive and ship from the United Kingdom.  Even though the very high powered equipment is give to us free of any charges, there is a considerable cost involved in shipping and refurbishing the equipment at our factory at Mahawa.  We have a well equipped workshop and an experienced team to provide you the best we can.

If you have diabetes or another condition where your feet are numb and have corns or ulcers

You will need specialised insoles and footwear like those shown here

Your Consultant will refer you to us with a request to make you  pressure relief insoles and customised shoes which will supplement his / her interventions.   These have to be custom made using casts of your feet if they have lost their natural shape or by modifying stock insoles and shoes if if your foot retains original shape.  Both are seen in the slider to your left.
